Checkups

And The Importance of Preventative Care

Scheduling routine dental checkups with your dental team is the best way to keep on top of your oral health and guarantee a healthy smile! These appointments give us an opportunity to look inside your mouth and discuss changes to your lifestyle, diet, or health, that may impact your oral health. Dental cleanings and exams are meant to compliment your at home routine of regular flossing and brushing.

ROOT CANALS

Root canals are often seen as a dreaded dental procedure. The thought of having to go through the process multiple times is enough to make some people avoid getting the treatment they need.

If you’re avoiding getting a root canal because of the number of appointments required, you’re not alone. Many people put off this important dental treatment because they don’t want to have to go through it more than once.

Root canal therapy is an incredibly effective way to save your teeth from further damage and decay. Our dentists are experienced in providing root canals and will work with you to schedule the appointments that work best for you.

Crown & Bridge

Crowns are full coverage restorations that can be used in several instances. They are utilized most often in cases where the tooth is highly compromised. This includes: cracked or cracking teeth, very large restorations, or when teeth have had endodontic therapy (root canals). They can also be used to mask highly discolored teeth or camoflauge slightly malpositioned teeth.

The procedure is to shave the tooth down in all dimensions and sending a molding of the tooth to a lab. In the interim, the prepared tooth is given a temporary crown. A few weeks later, the temporary crown is removed and the definitive crown is cemented. This provides a restoration that is stronger than a large filling and can aid in tooth strength.

Implants

Dental implants

are one of the greatest advancements in dental health and cosmetic dentistry. Our Brandon dentists can use dental implants to replace your missing teeth via titanium screws that are surgically anchored into the jaw. It is a procedure that allows our dentists to replace missing teeth and restore your smile, while improving your quality of life and reducing bone loss in the jaw.

The use of dental implants is very diverse. They can be used to replace and restore a single tooth, a span of multiple teeth that act as bridge anchors, or can be used to stabilize and anchor complete or partial removable dentures. Once completed, your dental implant will look and function much like a normal tooth, requiring brushing and flossing to maintain your oral health and the life of your artificial tooth.

Talk with your Brandon dentist at Town Centre Dental about whether you are an implant candidate. You must be in good health and have the proper bone structure and healthy gums for the implant to stay in place.

Oral Surgeries

Oral surgery is a complex and serious procedure that should not be taken lightly. It can seem daunting, but it’s important to remember that oral surgery is often the best solution for more complex dental problems.

Our team of experienced oral surgeons are here to help make your experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your needs and goals. We want you to feel confident in your decision to undergo oral surgery, and our team will be with you every step of the way.

Dental Restorations

Through improved techniques and modern technology

It’s great news that the incidence of tooth decay has significantly diminished over the years due to the use of fluorides and an increase in patient awareness. However, teeth are still susceptible to decay, infection, and breakage and sometimes need to be restored back to health. We are able to offer more options for restoring a tooth back to its normal shape, appearance and function.

Reasons for restorative dentistry:
  • Enhance your smile.
  • Fill in unattractive spaces between teeth.
  • Improve or correct an improper bite.
  • Prevent the loss of a tooth.
  • Relieve dental pain.
  • Repair damaged and decayed teeth.
  • Replace missing teeth.
  • Replace old, unattractive dental treatments.
  • Restore normal eating and chewing.

COSMETIC DENTAL

TREATMENTS

In the past decade there has been a dramatic interest in cosmetic dentistry. We all realize that having a healthy, bright, beautiful smile enhances our appearance and allows us to smile with confidence. Thanks to the advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, we are able to improve our teeth and smiles with quick, painless and surprisingly affordable treatments.

COSMETIC DENTAL TREATMENTS ON:

  • Change the size, shape, and alignment of certain teeth.
  • Fill in unattractive spaves between teeth.
  • Improve or correct bites.
  • Lighten or brighten the colour of teeth.
  • Repair decayed, broken, cracked or chipped teeth.
  • Replace missing teeth.

Teeth Whitening

In recent years there have been a strong desire for people to whiten their teeth. We need to consider where the stain is prior to whitening. Surface staining is a common occurance. The common offenders are cigarette smoking, tea, red wine, and tartar buildup.

Consult with your dentist to determine if you are a candidate for tooth bleaching.

The external stain can be reduced by using a whitening toothpaste that is abrasive enough to remove these stains. This can also be treated during a hygiene appointment.

Internal staining is more extensive and involves the enamel and dentin of the tooth. Whitening of these areas can be accomplished through tooth bleaching. Bleaching is ineffective in whitening denture teeth, crowns, or bonded restorations. In severe cases (or for instances where the desired whiteness is not achieved), then veneering or crowning the tooth to the appropriate shade is required.

DENTISTRY FOR CHILDREN

Treatment

Establishing a good relationship between your child and their dental professional is important to do at an early age as this sets the foundation for the rest of their life. Dental phobias beginning in childhood often continue into adulthood, so it is important that children have positive experiences and find their “dental home” as early as possible.

EMERGENCIES

Dental emergencies can be incredibly scary and often require immediate treatment.

This can happen to anyone, at any time. If you’re not prepared for them, they can quickly become a disaster.

It can range from mildly inconvenient to seriously life-threatening. That’s why it’s so important to have a plan in place for when they happen. At our dental office, we offer same-day emergency appointments to help you get the care you need as quickly as possible.
